Equipment needed:

2- 87 ounce buckets for weighing & melting oils.
2 Spatulas
2 Glass beakers (weigh out lye in one, water in the second)
1 Powder Duster
pH testing strips

6.55 oz wt. of Sodium Hydroxide
18    oz wt. Distilled Water

4      oz wt. Apricot Kernel Oil
4      oz wt. Avocado Oil
4      oz wt. Castor Oil
2      oz wt. Cocoa Butter
7      oz wt. Coconut Oil
2      oz wt. Mango Butter
7      oz wt. Palm Kernel Oil
12    oz wt. Palm Oil (sustainable)
6      oz wt. Safflower Oil

1 1/2 Scoops (1.25 cc scoop) of  Aqua Green Mica
1 1/2 Scoops (1.25 cc scoop) Fine Satin Gold Mica

Weigh out your ingredients and follow basic soap making directions:
Basic Soapmaking Directions:
  • Put on your safety goggles & neoprene gloves, combine your sodium hydroxide & your liquid, stir completely. Set the lye aside and allow it to cool between 100 – 125 degrees.
  • Weigh your oils & heat. Temperature of oils needs to be between 100 – 125 degrees. If you are coloring your soap, add it to your oils at this time.
  • When both your lye & your oils are at approximately the same temperature (100 – 125 degrees) you need to combine them. Use precautions to avoid splashing. Stir with a stick blender until you reach light trace.
  • Add your Fragrance Oil, stir with the stick blender, don't let the soap get too thick.
  • Separate into two 87 oz buckets & color one half of the soap with the Aqua Green Mica. Stir in with a spatula. (pre-mix your Aqua Green Mica in some water so that it blends in easily.
  • Pour a thin layer of the green soap in the left side of mold, pour a thin layer of the natural on the right side. Then add a thin layer of natural (not colored)on top of the left side green, and green on top of the right side natural, continue until you get to the top and have used all your soap.
  • I finished with green on the top. Once the soap has thickened enough to go back with a spoon or spatula and create peaks down the center (see pic). Go ahead and do this. Last will be to use your duster and sprinkle the fine satin gold mica over the top.
  • Allow the soap to sit overnight before testing the pH (should be an 8) and then cutting & stacking so the bars can cure for a few weeks prior to using.
